Interested in becoming an etiquette coach with Simply Greer Etiquette?
We're looking for people who can hold a room of sixteen children — and leave every parent in the parking lot feeling they've just met Simply Greer.
The Work
A Simply Greer Etiquette coach teaches ninety-minute classes to children aged six to eleven, in country clubs, private schools and beautiful dining rooms.
Table manners. Social confidence. Formal dining. The thank-you note. The quiet skills that used to be passed down at family tables and, in a lot of homes, quietly stopped being passed down at all.
Every class is capped at sixteen children, and the cap is firm. That's not a scheduling detail — it's the whole product. It's why our classes feel like an initiation rather than an assembly.
You arrive thirty minutes early. You set the table properly. You teach. You hand every child a certificate. Then you reset the room and write it up. It is more demanding than it sounds and more rewarding than it looks.
"The standard doesn't move for anybody. That's what makes it worth meeting."
Who We're Looking For
Credentials matter, and we'll get to those. But these are the things we actually watch for.
Warmth first, polish second
A coach children like, who happens to be exacting. Never the other way around.
Quiet authority
You hold a room without raising your voice. Children behave because they want your approval, not because they're being managed.
At ease with adults
Half this job is the parent in the doorway and the club manager in the hallway. Both matter as much as the lesson.
You genuinely like children
Impossible to fake for ninety minutes, and obvious to every parent in the room.
Reliable in the small things
Early. Prepared. The place setting exactly right. A brand is built out of precisely these, and lost the same way.
What's Required
Four things, and all four apply to everyone.
No exceptions, ever — including for people we already know and love.
A background check
Completed before you're ever alone with children, renewed every two years, and paid for by us. This is the one we will never move on. Most of the clubs and schools we work with require it of any vendor, and it is the least a parent should be able to assume.
Certification
Certification in children's and dining etiquette from The Swann School of Protocol, or an equivalent we accept. If we've selected you and you don't have it yet, we may fund it.
Immersion and sign-off
Two four-hour sessions with us: curriculum and standards first, then co-teaching a real class with real children. You're signed off against a ten-point standard, and you don't teach alone until every point is met.
Insurance
Either your own general liability coverage naming us as additional insured, or coverage under our policy. We'll tell you which.
What We Provide
The full curriculum, lesson plans and every teaching material
Place settings and everything the room needs
Certificates, promotional copy and post-class summaries
Training, and a standard worth being held to
The bookings — you teach, we sell
How Coaches Are Paid
Coaches are paid per class taught, within seven business days of delivery, with travel beyond thirty miles reimbursed. If you bring us a booking yourself, you earn on it too. Nobody here is on a retainer waiting for work — everyone earns when the business earns.
Where We're Hiring
Connecticut, New Jersey and the New York Metropolitan area.
More markets opening as we grow. If you're somewhere else and you think you're right for this, write to us anyway — we'd rather know who you are before we get there.
This suits teachers, former teachers, hospitality professionals, protocol and etiquette consultants, and people who have spent a career being good with both children and their parents. It does not require a background in etiquette. It requires the four requirements above and a willingness to be trained properly.
Tell Us About Yourself
No formal application. Just write to us like a person.
We read everything and we reply to everyone.
